What Makes Me, Me

Age: 10 years old
From: London, KY
My name is Sadie Hoffman. I am ten years old and Ii have been doing archery for two years now, and I am finally getting good at it. I shoot for London, KY S3DA Aim Takers archery club. The reason I do archery is because when I was six, I wanted to be just like my sister Savannah. Ever since I have followed in her footsteps. When I picked up that bow, I had a connection that I never had with basketball or softball ever. So I knew archery was my thing. Archery is very hard but as long as it takes and as hard as I worked it paid off in the long run. I have built some great relationships over the time I have been shooting. I enjoy traveling with my family to explore new places and spend quality time with them.
I am a barebow shooter:Who shoots bare bows? Bare bows are one of the hardest bows to shoot because we don't use sights or pins. I shoot bare bows because I want to honor my mamaw who is not with us now. She would tell me stories of hunting and her first bow she made out of wood and sticks. So I think I had to get my talent from Mamaw. Mamaw loved me, she would love to hear me tell her all about my shooting and I still do to this day.
How I achieve my goals: One of the things I want to do is beat my high score. I want to be at a 146 this time and I think I can do it! This took lots of practice! Everyday I would go outside and practice at least an hour. Every shot counts so I would take my time on each shot I took.Tournament day all that practicing paid off. I didn't get the score I wanted, but I tried my best and that's all my family wants me to do! I am thankful to my family and friends and God, my mamaw, and my sister for the encouragement. The river of emotions: Archery is very hard when it comes to emotions! It is hard because you're so dedicated that when one arrow is out you just want to cry your eyes out. Your emotions can make your attitude go wild and mess with your whole tournament. It happened to merit's all in your head don't let it get to you. Your attitude is the worst always have a smile on your face no matter what and always have positive thoughts every shot just go through the steps in your head. Then some days you will have awesome days were you break like twenty arrows in one day and some days you will shoot like a twenty three. Hunting:You might already know that most people hunt for food but some people kill animals for competition. Well I am the type of person that thinks you kill something for competition is not ok. I can understand that you need food to eat. But killing an animal is taking its life away. It is the same as taking my life away or my mom's or anyone else's. I don’t hunt because I don't think I can look at something and shoot it intentionally .I am just not ready to do that but when I do start I am going to kill it to provide for my family. This is to everyone you should follow your dreams and not someone else’s. No matter what you chose to do or how good you are at it, just be yourself!
